CONTAMINATED SITE ASSESSMENTS
Our Approach: (I) Tailored To The Needs Of The Project: - The Approach Is Based On The Premise That For Any Site Investigation, To Achieve A Rational Purpose, An Integrated Approach Is Desired Which Must Define, - The Objectives Of The Study - The Level Of Information Required, And - The Management Approach Desired. (Ii) Consideration Of The Future: - Potential Liabilities Must Be Considered To Address Both The Short And Long Term Effects On The Site Users And The Environment At Large; These Include: (a) Health Risk Hazard To The Communities. (b) Adverse Effect On Vegetation Including Foliar Analysis For Chemical Composition. © Risks From Various Gases And Vapors In Ambient Air (Especially, CO, CO2, Volatile Organic Compounds, Total Particulate Suspended, VOC, Nox, Sox, Etc. (d) Potential For Surface Water Pollution. (e) Potential For Ground Water Pollution. (f) Potential For Noise Pollution. (g) (Industrial And Urban Noise Levels) Air Pollution. (a) Health Risk Hazard To The Communities. Site-Specific Criteria The Criteria used To Estimate The Significance Of Risk Is Site Specific And Takes Into Account The Actual Hazards And Exposures That Prevail On The Particulars Site. To Achieve This, We Will: (A) Conduct An Exposure Assessment On The Site And A Toxicity Assessment Of The Chemicals Of Pollutants Of Interest In Land, Water And Air (E.G. Heavy Metals, PAH, BTEX, NOX, Etc). (B) Set Relevant Standards Or Criteria For The Well-Being Of The Target Receptors (Ecological) For The Chemicals And Pollutants Of Interest (Based On WHO, DPR, And FEPA Standards). (c) Relate These Standards To The Corresponding Concentrations Of The Pollutants In The Soil, Water, And/Or Air On The Site, Using The Exposure Pathways Identified For That Site. Generally, The Inorganic Contaminants, Normal Soil Background Levels Will Serve As Basis, While For Organic Contaminants, Particularly Synthetic Organics, The Analytical Detection Limit Will Be Used As Basis. The Desire Here Is For No Detectable Levels. For Ground Water, The Basis Is For The Quality Level At Or Just Below Drinking Water Standards. Benefits Of The Approach (I) This Approach Can Be Used On Both Waste Disposal Sites And Contaminated Lands Generally (Including Oil Contamination/Spill). (Ii) Allows For Considerable Flexibility In Handling Site Environmental Settings (Iii) The Approach Can Be Tailored To A Specific End Use.
